The challenges that came with the COVID-19 pandemic also brought creative, alternate solutions; for example a company shuttle. This is a new modality that did exist before the pandemic. Lately it has been more common as an incentive to get employees back to work.
The task of maintaining social distance during their commute is challenging. Some employers have looked into solutions to make sure their employees feel safe coming to work.
Below are five advantages of having a company shuttle for employees to a designated location.
1. Increases employee retention
Having a company shuttle for employees to travel to and from meetings, events and major train stations is considered a perk that many other companies might not offer.
2. Positive impact to the environment
By providing a shuttle, employees can leave their vehicles at home, thus reducing the carbon footprint, and also minimize traffic.
3. Save money
Companies can save in their expenses by qualifying for tax breaks as they provide commuter benefits to their employees.
4. Avoid crowded public transportation
This is important especially since COVID-19; as many employees are choosing to work from home to avoid the lack of social distancing that happens in major public transits, such as metro stations. Providing a shuttle can entice employees to come back to work.
5. Boosts team collaboration
As most employees have been working remotely, as they come back to work, they are in need of connecting with their colleagues. A shuttle can help build that relationship outside of the office that was once lost in the past year and a half.
There are companies that offer this service to companies, providing shuttles for their employees. Some of these are Amazon, Air Canada, and Deloitte, just to mention a few. Some shuttles also provide WiFi service, accommodations for people with disabilities, and strict COVID-19 policies when it comes to disinfection and the use of sanitizer on board.
